It is sad how the various peoples that lived in these places were enslaved and brutalized by the assorted conquistadores.

I know that you travelled in Portugal. Did you happen to visit the Algarve? There are some interesting examples of mosques from the time when Portugal was invaded, which were converted into Catholic chapels once the invaders left.
