A very interesting article, with some excellent points.

On this topic, I would like to mention the rather irritating way some people have of confronting a person say wearing a headscarf, and afro, bangles,or nose rings and accusing them of cultural appropriation.

I feel that this sort of thing trivializes the issue.

I agree that right, or wrong, we do tend to make value judgements based on certain things. Language and looks being two. However, let me throw a monky wrench into the works by adding that often, stereotypes exist for a reason.

In my landscaping business, I hire assorted youth to help in the summer. I have found through bad experience that certain cultures are a bad bet to hire, with male persons from the Islands or from the middle east being the absolute worst. So you could say I am very likely to not consider anyone from these groups.

On the other hand, most of my successful helpers are LGTB, autistic, manic depressive or recovering drug addicts. Many would automatically exclude them from being considered. I find they work out beautifully.
