Courtney, as a vet tech, as a loving pet Mom, you did everything you possibly could have done. I feel sure that your love was felt and was a comfort. I think they can feel our love.
We have had to through the end with 4 dogs and 5 cats. Each time it was imperative that we do it due to severe health issues and to limit pain and suffering. The decision was never easy and it was always painful to us. Each time we had to hold them in our arms as they left us, a little bit of us died too.
We recently had to say goodbye to our 17 year old Russian Blue. He had stage three kidney disease and pancreatitis. We had him from 2012 to 2021. the best, most loving fur-baby ever. He was in good spirits and pretty good health for a long time. He got worse very suddently. Unbeknownst to me, he had a stroke in the night and could barely move, but managed to crawl up onto the bed to be with me one last time. The next morning I realized that his limbs were not working and he couldn't use the litterbox. We realized that he needed to be allowed to go before losing any more of his dignity. He left us purring softly and eating one last treat with our loving vet, and vet tech with us. I miss him so much.
