Dennett, my friend. XXO

It is really hard to deal with the loss of a beloved family member, and in my view, harder if that family member happens to be of the furry type.

I completely understand how you are feeling right now, and support you in your grief and regret. We always look back and tell ourselves “I should have known …” “If I had known…” and “could I have done more …”

Unfortunately the truth is that mostly likely, no, we couldn’t have known, or done better, not unless we were magical types with real vision into the future.

You did your level best to keep Sophie comfortable and to help her enjoy those last months and weeks and days with you. Her loving expression in that photo of her a week before she left? To me that says it all.

If you are having trouble with writing a tribute to Sophie, I think that is because it is still too fresh. Let some time pass, gather the good memories around you like a soft blanket and in a while you will be able to see your way much clearer.

If it is any comfort to you, more than 2 years have passed since we lost Jasper, and I still cannot write about it.

Thank you for featuring my pink hydrangeas …

Be well my friend, hugs.
