I am horrified that none of your "real life" friends and co-workers took the trouble to reach out. That seems so harsh and unfeeling.

It is interesting to me that over the years, I have formed strong bonds of friendship with online contacts that I rarely meet in person. First through a cool music site called Acid Planet and now through Medium.
