Excellent article.

Drawing attention to this issue is a really good thing.

Any business is expensive to start and run, but one such as yours is much more costly than average. The type of equipment you people need is very costly. the training that vets and vet techs need is expensive. And, yes the fees are high, but they have to be in order to cover the costs - makes sense.

My biggest concern, as a pet owner, is lack of access due to this stupid pandemic.

I am also concerned that vets are not really treated as essential services ( at least not in Canada).

And, that as in Australia, there is no government help for them as there is for " people" medical stuff.

Something that I object to is that a lot of Veterinary things are financed by the pet food industry (here in Canada) which I feel is very bad, considering the complete garbage that is in much of that commercial crud.

The very fact that people are pet mad at this time is a bother because many who adopt are completely stupid about looking after their fur friends properly. So pets are adopted during the pandemic, people do not understand the responsibility and the pets are then disgarded. Or, they are amazed at how expensive a vet visit is, and that may result in some poor animal being left to suffer.
