Sadly the breed specific legislations exist all over. Right here in Canada, so-called Pit bulls are currently the main targets.
It cannot be too strongly stressed that the jackass owners of this type of dog are usually the ones that need to be targeted. Not the animals themselves.
Having said that, I was once horribly bitten by Golden retriever, that was someone I knew and was friends with. The bite was unprovoked and really bad. That animal later turned on other dogs, kids and people and had to be put down.
We adopted a 6 year old Border Colie. Adorable and totally brain damaged. After a year of increasingly vicious incidents, we had to have him put to sleep.
So, in my opinion, not fair to target the breed.
