Excellent article, John.

My father and two of my siblings were American. If they could see what is going on right now, they would be apalled. My Dad was in WW1 and WW2, and would be furious.

I tend to agree with what Bebe said "While some Trump supporters are no doubt motivated by money or an anti-immigrant sentiment, I believe others were voting against some progressive agendas that went over the top".

It appears that many middle class working people do not ascribe to extremism on either side of the political spectrum.

I think it is very sad to see a great nation brought ot its knees, and losing the respect of people all over the world.

I also feel that it is naive to believe that with Trump out, everthing will change for the better. It will be a monumental battle which will take more than a generation to control.

The nastiness is out in the open now, and will be hard to get back into the bottle from whence it came.

What really concerns me is that thanks to the extremism on both sides, the moderates will lose their ability to voice an opinion.

I believe that we are moving inexorably toward an Orwellian world.
