Good piece, Sherry.

The last few days, all I seem to hear and see on the news is BAD. Bad for the U.S., Bad for Canada and bad for everywhere else too.

It is clear to me that no matter what rhetoric the politicians engage in, the outcome will be the same. GREED. Greed wins every time.

There is NO fairness, NO Objectivity, NO kindness, NO love and not a lot of hope for the World.

Everyone is paying lip-service to causes.

The politicians are like weathercocks, blowing every which way the wind blows. They publicly favour the causes that are most likely to bring them votes. Not because they personally favour the cause, they don’t give a rats ass about the cause.

Currently the most popular mantra in Canada is feminism. Our selfie-loving PM tells the world how much of a feminist he is. He appoints a lot of women to his cabinet. He talks long and loud about women’s rights, but when it comes to actually taking a stand against human and womens rights abusers like Iran, Saudi Arabia, China and others of the same ilk — he backs away.

He recently championed the cause of a spoiled rich Saudi girl who used social media to demand protection and get refuge in Canada. Trendy and very visible, not a lot of real effort. But, does he champion the cause of the Iranian womens rights fighter who has been sentenced to 30 plus years in jail plus 140 lashes? Does he demand her release? Does he call for sanctions against Iran? Does he offer her sanctuary in Canada? No he doesn’t. that would require real courage and real action.

Like most politicians there is no real substance, there is no real desire to make things better.

It is very sad that human beings are unable to live in harmony, but it’s an unfortunate fact that they never will.

People react to “different”. They fear “different”. Politicians have learned this and they “work it”. The politics of divisiveness. Some things never change.

I am grateful that my days are numbered. I am old enough that I hope not be around to see the bloody results that are sure to follow the chaos that is happening in the world. It is too overwhelming.
