Gorgeous photos, Olive. How pleasant to live a place that has so many exotic flowers and plants.
Starting from the top.
Here in Southern Ontario, we enjoy several types of Sunflower, but only as annuals. Recently some townships have taken to planting fields full of them, possibly in an effort to purge toxins from the soil.
Gazanias are also very popular as annual here.
Some Italian and Portuguese families grow mini or@nge and other citrus trees indoor in the winte4band bring them outdoors once the temperatures are warm enough.
When we lived in Portugal we had Orange, Lemon, tangerine and grapefruit trees in the garden, and I recall the heady perfume from the flowers.
Hibiscus, like the one in your photo, are really popular as houseplants.
We don’t see many African daisies except in bouquets.
Oleander is another popular house plant here.
We have cousin to your ice plant. I gather the you have can be quite invasive.
curiously, Canada has a hardy cactus. It actually grow in Alberta, which has extremely harsh winters. We are able to grow it here in Ontario, but it is a tricky plant. One needs to wear special gloves and tongs when handling it, and I found that it was very invasive. The bees enjoyed the delicate flowers.
