Sadly, Mr. Bender is quite right. Lovely as they are, if they find a spot they can grow unimpeded, they will take over everything, and are pretty near impossible to evict. They are sometimes referred to as “the Trumpet vine” or “Hummingbird vine”.

If a client wants to get one, I always warn them.

Another flowering vine beauty is Wisteria, but it has a similar invasive nature. The one pictured below has seriously damaged and bent the iron fence against which it is growing.
