Great piece, Walter.

Dickens was thrust upon me by my mother who was my first teacher (I was never allowed to go to school). For all that, her love of English literature was passed on to me. She started me out reading to me from her faves, then once I could read, I was encouraged to read all of Dickens.

What a shame you can't riffle through the aging pages of these classics, there is something very special about the yellowed and fragile pages from another era.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Dickens.
