I know that you are right, Alan. I believe that there are two major reasons: 1) declining literacy and 2) too many electronic distraction devices.

Years ago, when I was still a working stiff, I would be on the subway and tons of people would be reading books. Fast forward to a couple of yars ago (before Covid) and on various subway trips, all I saw was people playing games on their cell phones.

Sadly, I think the days of paper books are fast coming to a close.,
