Taking the one point about the concept that we are a bunch of racists:

It is quite true that people seem more agitated about the Ukraine situation than, say. the ongoing strife in places with large non-white populations.

You are saying that this is racist. I feel that it is more tribe-ist.

Nasty? No. Realistic? Yes.

Well, yes. The thing is that people tend to gravitate toward others that share similar backgrounds and views as themselves. Their tribe.

It boils down to self-preservation, and I believe is basically instinctive.

People will join up with others that are similar.

Nothing is going to change that. Pie-in-the-sky wishful thinking will not change that. Do-gooder whining will not change that.

So while people will be horrified at the brutalities of war, they will be more likely to be strongly supportive and helpful to those that appear to be similar. In this case the Ukranians. The Ukranians, while they may have a different language, are far more liley to "fit" into our society than the people from the middle east and african nations.
