It is really heartbreaking to read this, Dennett.

None of it is your fault. Life is unpredictable and chaotic.

It is disappointing that your neighbours have not reached out, but it does not suprise me. Only those who have a really close connection - like Gina - will likely feel that they have the right to "intrude".

Some years ago, one of our neighbours took his own life due to terminal cancer. We all reached out to his wife, letting her know we would be pleased to help/comfort her. She however was very disinterested in efforts to support her, and has remained alone and estranged from our 'hood (which is very closeknit) for all these years. I think that people are reluctant to intrude on the grief of others, not because they do not care, but because they lack the ability to communicate.
