Our cats usually respond when we say their names. They also change the tone of their meows depending on their wishes. So when waiting for their food to be prepared, they sit about mewing slightly. If we are taking too long they start to make very loud and demanding meows. If the food is ready to deliver, but for some reason there is a delay, the meowing becomes REALLY loud and irritated.😺
