Sadly, developers seem to be given more and more latitude, and there is not nearly enough concern regarding building over every square inch of available land. A telling comment from a Canadian builder, who is being denied a building permit, was “we are not here to grow trees and develop parks and open spaces”.

I think that is a very telling remark.

Yes, housing is needed, but no, it should not built at a cost to open spaces. They need to come up with better plans.
