Shutterstock is a commercial photo site, which is curated and where you can sell your work. Shutterstock charges you to be on the site.

Photoshelter is a great place to set up a portfolio. Bruce has his there and really likes the formatting and presentation. Selling photos there? Not so much. Photoshelter is also not really a social media site nor a point of sale site You can certainly set it up so that you can direct people to your gallery and they can purchase photos for prints, but getting views there is the same as any other site - you have to work at it and spread the word. Photoshelter also charges you.

Flickr is slightly better from the standpoint that it has groups. You can join groups that feature the sort of work you are doing You can gain visibility and of course, you can aso sell prints in that manner.

Flickr is free for the first 1000 photos, after which you have pay a small fee.

there are some "commercial" photo sites. Bruce has tried a few and dropped them. He could give you names if you wish.
