when you are a kid sometimes you just do not get the big picture. I know that My Dad was basically trying to ensure that I would be taken care of financially - he himself had experienced poverty and at that time it was still a" good thing" for a girl to marry a rich husband, the older the better.

He spent most of my teen years trying to get me married off to rich old men. (Obviously that never worked - LOL)
