Thank you for a well written, interesting and informative article on a subject that is dear to my heart (pardon the pun).
I had a TIA stroke last June and was immediately put on Statins. And just as immediately had REALLY bad reactions to them.
My family Dr. put me on a super reduced dose, and although the side effects are still present, they are much reduced, as is my cholesterol.
I always have strong reaction to allopathic medications and as a result, am not keen on them. I was shocked to learn that my cholesterol was extremely high, as was my blood sugar and pressure. Shocking, because I live a very healthy lifestyle. No smoking, no drinking, plenty of exercise, very heart friendly diet. They told me that it was age and genetics. Very annoying. I am 83 but a professional gardener so you can see that I am not a layabout.
Anyway, bottom line, I am forced to be on the statin and also on the blood pressure me which causes even more side effects. These big pharma companies have a lot to be blamed for.
