Thanks for exposing the clap issue. This was interesting. Reading the comments was also interesting.

I clap if I like the piece. Degree of liking is reflected in claps. I would rarely think of giving one clap.

Clapping without commenting I feel is rude. Tends to point to the autoclapping syndrome.

Clapping and commenting is nice because it gives you an idea of what peopl actually thought of the piece. Unless of course they do the dreaded "Nice article" comment.
