I think that part of the reason people do not care or understand how things were, and how much many have sacrificed, is that these things are no longer taught in school or by parents.

I know that I tend to mock religion, but I will say that my Mum tried hard to instill in me some Christian "golden rules". Her first one was "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". A good, general one, covers a lot of basics.

I notice in the past 40 years that manners and courtesy are greatly lacking in people of ALL ages and it really makes me want to shake them.
