Have you considered setting up surveillance cameras along that back fence? Once a perp, always a perp, whoever it is will be out about about again with gun at the ready.

Bruce uses Wyze cameras here. They are not incredibly expensive, but great for capturing everything that goes on around our place and nearby. They are really small so not obvious. (He has one set up to monitor bird activity at the heated birdbath)
