Thanks so much, Roz. I appreciate being featured in this article. (I look forward to getting submissions from you in Weeds and Wildflowers.)

Being an editor is often quite tricky, and often challenging. Sticking with our guidelines and explaining to new writers why they need to read them is irritating.

I really dislike having to reject a piece. I myself, greatly dislike getting the curt dismissal, often weeks in coming, from pubs. Therefore I try to be as quick and as positive as possible, and if I know of another pub that might be a better fit, will suggest it.

Now here is a major beef.

Unless we have the writers email there really is no reliable way to reach the writer. Medium offers Private Notes. These only work if the writer happens to get a notification of the note, which may or may not happen.

On the topic of long delays in accepting or rejecting articles, I find those long delays excessive. I once waited 6 months to hear back.

If Medium included the ability to give a reason for rejecting a submitted piece, it would speed up the process, for me at least.

As to Catness submission guidelines, the more restrictive ones came about after multiple submissions came in from people who just wanted to pose as”experts”, and who refused to,provide proper sources for their assertions. We decided to use the KISS principle. Keep It Simple Stupid. 😼😼😼😼
