The right to choose the time of ones' death is, to me, a right that should be firmly entrenched in law,

Here in canada, finally after many years of battling we are getting closer to a law that will make it much easier for peple to make that choice.

Here, there was a case of a woman who was afflicted with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease), Sue Rodrigues. She fought for a long time for the right to Assisted dying, because by the time she was fully incapacitated with this foul disease, she was unable to do anything physical for herself. In the end, a close friend and advocate did help her - illegally. thanks to her struggle, a new law was made and those of us that are fervent supporters of this right are trying to make it better and less cumbersome so that people will have the right without getting bogged down in bureacratic mumbo jumbo.

This bureaucratic mumbo jumbo caused a neighbour of ours to shoot himself in the head rather than suffer with painful and horribly debilitating terminal cancer for another three years.

Yes - people should have the right to choose. F#ck the lawmakers and the bureaucrats.

As the song from Mash says so well:

"The game of life is hard to play

I'm gonna lose it anyway

The losing card I'll someday lay

So this is all I have to say

That suicide is painless

It brings on many changes

And I can take or leave it if I please"
