The sometimes elusive Naked Ladies. I have had them work beautifully, but sometimes they just refuse to grow.

In the spring the large, healthy leaves show up. I always forget what they are. Then in the late summer, as described by you, up come the lovely, delicate flowers. Except not always for me.☹️
