I have heard a few of the versions you mention, but some came as a surprise. I was never keen on Frankie Laine anyway, and didn't like his version.

The Shadows were one of my faves, as was Eddie Cochrane. Dion was beloved by my crowd. We would put coins in the jukebox and incessantly play Dion hits, much to the irritation of other patrons of the cafe.
