Yes. I agree. the idea of “forever” friends is unrealistic, as I have come to find.
My Mum said that one would have maybe one or two “true” friends in a lifetime, and a ton of acquaintances. Facebook, of course, disagrees.
Here is part of a sonnet, which has been attributed to various poets, but as far as I know it was penned by Wm. Shakespeare, anyhow I love the sentiments expressed, no matter who the author is!:
